What policies could improve public and private transport infrastructure?

End UK airport expansion

There will be no further expansions (such as new runways or terminals) of any UK airports, and capacity shall be capped at roughly current levels.

Until the aviation industry is carbon neutral, there will be no further expansions (such as new runways or terminals) of any UK airports, and capacity shall be capped at roughly current levels.

Cycling

Cycling

Commit to investing in cycling infrastructure: dedicated and separate lanes; secure parking; making traffic junctions 'cycle-safe'; encouraging shared use of pavements and paths where dedicated lanes are not feasible.

Electric Vehicles

Incentivise existing fuelling stations to install charging units for electric vehicles to help create a nationwide network and overcome the perception of 'range anxiety' amongst consumers.

Any ideas how they do that? Solar planes aren't really feasible. Have there been any studies that show the direction the industry should be taking? Otherwise we're just setting an unrealistic goal and should just come out and say "we're against airport expansion - period" [with apologies for the Amercianism which on this occasion is actually quite useful].

I suspect more likely things like biofuels, etc, though there is research into electric aviation. This is more to give a bit of reasoning behind our objection to aviation expansion, i.e. it's an emissions issue. If someone works it out, then fine, we'll revisit.
