Everyone has ideas about the future - why not add yours? Perhaps you can see something on here you disagree with? Nothing on this site is set in stone - everything and anything is up for discussion, amending, or changing entirely. Your contribution doesn't have to be huge - everything helps!
We are currently not a registered political party, and do not know if we intend to become one, but we are aiming to have a complete-enough manifesto to be able to support candidates (either within a party or independent) in the 2015 general and local elections.
The current political landscape in the UK is not serving the public interest. There is not enough choice, little informed debate, and no challenge to the prevailing narrative. Those of us who believe in, and are working towards, a better future have nobody to represent us.

yeah sorry, I just don't like the word. 'Network' has so many different meanings and will I think lead to confusion about what we are, what we're doing, and what we're trying to achieve. It makes me think of a business networking event [shudder], or an online social network [fine if this was 2006], or perhaps a a bunch of linked up computers. I get that want differentiation from other political groups, but actually words like 'party' are an easy hook that help people to 'get' us once we want to head in that direction. Open Politics 'Project' or 'Manifesto' (or even just 'Group' although I'm less keen on this) are good for time being until registered as a party at which point it could be renamed, to something else, but right now I'm happy as it stands.

yeah I don't feel hugely strongly. I just don't feel positively about the name change. So abstain is fine.

depends if you mean to abstain or block - that's right for abstain :)

This is just an idea to let people try the rename I suggested in #56 on for size. I've just changed the main title, and removed the paragraph that talks about not being a party yet but aiming to have candidates, as it was a little outdated. I've explicitly not stated that we are a party called the OpenPolitics Network, that's undecided as yet.
